A CHILD carer who admitted cruelty to a baby boy was warned by a judge yesterday that she could go to jail.
Myra Ciruelos, 50, was due to stand trial at Teesside Crown Court yesterday but changed her plea to guilty on Tuesday.
Ciruelos, of Westfield Close, Loftus, East Cleveland, admitted cruelty to the 20-month-old boy between December 12 and 15, 2000.
He cannot be named for legal reasons but Judge David Byant was told by Paul Cleasby, defending, that he had been taken into care because his natural parents were unable to look after him, and he was being put up for adoption.
The judge adjourned the case for pre-sentence and medical reports, and granted bail. He told Ciruelos, who had no previous convictions, that he left all sentencing options open, including jail.
