Thieves take car contents
THREE vehicles were targeted by thieves in neighbouring Darlington streets. Two cars were broken into in Augusta Close, between 5.45pm and 7.15pm on Wednesday. A sports bag containing personal belongings was taken from one vehicle, while compact discs were taken from the other. A third vehicle was broken into in Troon Avenue between 8pm on the previous night and 8.50am on Wednesday. CAR abandoned: A Metro car was taken from Flora Street, in Spennymoor, on Wednesday night and was found abandoned at Gurney Valley, Bishop Auckland. Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact police at Newton Aycliffe or Spennymoor.
COUNCIL MEETING: A full meeting of Sedgefield Borough Council takes place today at the council offices, Green Lane, Spennymoor, from 10am.
WINDOWS SMASHED: The windows of three cars were smashed in Cross Street, Station Street and Soho Street, Shildon, on Wednesday evening.
LIGHTS FITTED: Security lighting has been installed and a wall replaced by a fence at the back of Greenfield flats, Ferryhill, at a cost of £5,483 under Sedgefield Borough Council's tidy estates and community involvement initiative.
HOUSE break-in: Raiders broke into a house at Arncliffe Place, Newton Aycliffe, between 10.20am and 4pm on Wednesday and made a search of the premises, but nothing was stolen.
COMMITTEE MEETING: A meeting of Great Aycliffe Town Council's environment committee takes place on Wednesday at the council offices, School Aycliffe Lane, Newton Aycliffe.
PLATE STOLEN: The front bumper and registration plate, number P231 JHN, were stolen from a Seat Ibiza in Beacon Avenue, Sedgefield, between 10pm on Monday and 7am on Tuesday.
ALCOHOL THEFT: Thieves stole 18 bottles of Stella Artois lager, six bottles of Hooch, two bottles of Asti Spumante and a bottle of Chardonnay, worth a total of £40, from a shed in Highland Terrace, Ferryhill, between 8.40am and 4pm on Tuesday.
Table-top sale: The Jubilee Fields Centre, Shildon, is holding a table- top sale on Sunday, at 10am. Tables are £5 and sellers should arrive at 9am.
Spy Kids: A film showing of Spy Kids takes place at the Jubilee Fields Centre, Shildon, on Sunday, March 3, at 6pm.
