HIGHWAY chiefs are to mount a further round of exhibitions outlining progress on plans for the £7.6m Chilton bypass.
The move follows a public consultation exercise last year when 2,000 questionnaires were issued to households in the Chilton area.
The results showed that 81 per cent of those who responded were in favour of the proposals for a bypass to the west of Chilton.
The bypass, which was first suggested more than 60 years ago, has raised some concerns, particularly from residents of 14 properties in West Chilton Terrace, which will be demolished to make way for the road.
Starting from Monday, a new round of exhibitions will be held, listing issues raised during the consultation period together with Durham County Council's responses.
The exhibitions will be held during normal opening hours at Chilton Library, Chilton and Windlestone WMC and the Eden Arms Hotel, in Rushyford, until Friday, March 8.
