Thieves take car contents
THREE vehicles were targeted by thieves in neighbouring Darlington streets. Two cars were broken into in Augusta Close, between 5.45pm and 7.15pm on Wednesday. A sports bag containing personal belongings was taken from one vehicle, while compact discs were taken from the other. A third vehicle was broken into in Troon Avenue between 8pm on the previous night and 8.50am on Wednesday. MP INTERVIEW: Darlington MP Alan Milburn, will be interviewed by a community newspaper today. Sue Bell, community development worker for Redhall in Darlington, will interview Mr Milburn for the Redhall Reveller newsletter, in the community centre at 2pm. Mr Milburn will then visit Redhall Primary School where he will answer questions from pupils.
WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP: The St John's Church women's fellowship, in Darlington, will meet at 7.30pm on Tuesday when the speaker will be George Flynn.
ARTS COURSE: The Cockerton and Branksome Living Enterprise group is starting a free arts course on Tuesday, at 10am, for residents in the Cockerton west area of Darlington. For more details, contact (01325) 354084.
TABLE-TOP SALE: Save the Children is holding a table top sale in aid of the Darlington branch on Saturday, March 2, from 9am to noon, in the ballroom of the town's Arts Centre. Admission is 30p.
TRAFFIC LIGHTS: Two-way traffic lights will be in operation in Haughton Road, Darlington from Monday for ten weeks to allow Transco to carry out work.
BIG BAND: Darlington MC Big Band will give a concert in aid of St John's Church, Darlington, on Tuesday, March 12, at 7.30pm, in East End Club, Neasham Road. Tickets cost £3 and are available by contacting (01325) 461186 or (01325) 351510.
STORE COLLECTORS: The Royal National Institute for the Blind is looking for volunteers to help with store collections in Darlington and the surrounding area. Anyone able to help is asked to contact (01388) 528297.
CHURCH COUNCIL: The St James the Great Church Council, in Darlington, meets on Thursday. The meeting starts with Mass at 7.15pm.
HOUSE break-in: Raiders broke into a house at Arncliffe Place, Newton Aycliffe, between 10.20am and 4pm on Wednesday and made a search of the premises, but nothing was stolen
