RESIDENTS have been given peace of mind in the form of 280 safety alarms yesterday.
They were handed out to people living in Grindon, Plains Farm, Thorney Close, Springwell and Farringdon, at a community safety event last week, at Holy Family Community Hall, Grindon, Sunderland.
They were bought by Grindon Village Residents' Association after it received £1,000 from the Opportunity Block community fund, part of the Single Regeneration Budget.
At the event, organised in partnership with Northumbria Police, officers gave advice on personal safety and crime prevention
