THERE is a chance to see life through the eyes of the ancient Egyptians during a special talk in Hartlepool this week.
Angela Thomas, curator of Bolton Museum, will shed light on the arts and crafts of the ancient civilisation by looking at the rules the Egyptians followed when creating their works of art.
It is an opportunity to find out how the Egyptians created their paintings and sculptures of people, animals and scenes of life and the afterlife.
The talk - Why Did They Do That? - is free and takes place at 7.30pm, tomorrow, in Har-tlepool Art Gallery, Church Square.
It coincides with the gallery's special exhibition of the Egyptians, which includes items on loan from the British Museum and the Petrie Museum, in London.
Students from the Cleveland College of Art and Design, in Middlesbrough, have spent four months creating huge sets to transform the gallery into the land of the Pharaohs.
The exhibition is open Mondays to Saturdays, from 10am to 5.30pm, and on Sundays, from 2pm to 5pm. Admission is free.
