Youth cafe plan to be discussed
A meeting is being held this week by a mother-of-three who would like to set up a cafe for youngsters. Julie Joyson, 39, of Hartlepool, has spent two years trying to create a place where youngsters in Hartlepool can gather. She would like to hear from other parents who could help set up the facility. She will reveal the latest stage of the planned youth cafe at a public meeting on Thursday, in St Matthew's Hall, Hartlepool at 6pm.
CASH POINT: A cash machine could be installed at the Fairfield Post Office, in Upsall Grove, Stockton, if Stockton Borough Council gives planning permission to the Alliance and Leicester.
PAN FIRE: Firefighters were called to Carlow Street, Middlesbrough, on Saturday at 5.30pm, to tackle a kitchen fire caused by a pan setting alight. It caused slight smoke damage to the house.
Craft fair: A spring craft fair is being held in Norton Green Community Centre, Norton, Stockton, on Saturday, from 11am to 2pm. Crafts will include candles, painted glass and pictures. All proceeds will go to Martin House Children's Hospice, Wetherby.
New houses: Kebbell Developments has applied to Hartlepool Borough Council for planning permission to build 27 detached houses and garages at the back of Tunstall Court, adjoining Serpentine Road and Wooler Road in the town.
sub-station PLAN: A planning application from Natural Power to build an electricity sub-station within a fenced compound at the Longhill site in Thomlinson Road, Hartlepool has been received by Hartlepool Borough Council.
New clerk: Loftus Town Council has appointed Alison Atkinson as its clerk replacing Margaret Turner, who left after 17 years of service.
Councillor resignS: Councillor Helen Todd, who represents the Loftus ward on Loftus Town Council, has resigned. Procedures for the election to find a new town councillor have begun.
KITCHEN FIRE: Firefighters tackled a kitchen blaze in Bedford Close, on the Glebe Estate, Stockton at midnight on Saturday. The kitchen was partly destroyed by fire.
HOUSE BLAZE: Firefighters attended a fire at an empty house in Manners Street, Middlesbrough, on Friday. The fire, which was started by vandals, destroyed most of the kitchen.
