A NEWTON Aycliffe secretary has set up her own business with help from The Prince's Trust.
Lisa Thompson, 29, has nine years' experience of secretarial and litigation work, as well as debt recovery and credit analysis.
Her new business, SDC Services, is a secretarial, credit control and freelance debt recovery business, aimed at small to medium-sized businesses.
She has been able to get the business off the ground thanks to a £500 grant and a £2,000 loan from the Prince's Trust.
The trust helps more than 400 young North-East people into business every year via its Business Start-up programme.
Ms Thompson said it was a complete shock when she heard that the trust had accepted her application.
She has no regrets about taking the first steps to becoming her own boss.
"I realise it may be a struggle in the beginning, but I feel the business will grow by personal recommendation. I would like to see it expand so that one day I can become an employer," she said.
"I couldn't have established the business so easily without the help of The Prince's Trust, and would urge anyone with a business idea to contact them."
