A CHINESE art exhibition is on display at a Durham museum.
The Oriental Museum, at Elvet Hill, is hosting the exhibition Paintings of the Three Gorges.
The paintings centre around the Gezhouba Dam project to flood the three gorges both to control irrigation and to help meet the water needs of China's huge population.
Beijing-born professor Zhang Yi Fan, described as one of China's "living treasures" and a "painter of the first grade", has captured the river and mountain views in ink paintings before the area of outstanding natural beauty is lost forever.
A museum spokesman said: "The Oriental Museum is privileged to display the art of such a renowned artist.
"The exhibition has been organised by a teacher of Chinese art at Hull Chinese School, Brian Morgan."
The Oriental Museum will host the exhibition until April 29. It is open from 10am until 5pm on weekdays and from noon to 5pm at weekends.
Admission costs £1.50 for adults and 75p for concessions
