TWO teenagers will be performing in a concert organised by Durham Young Musicians this weekend.
Kathleen Rudd and Laura Bury will play on Sunday in St Cuthbert's Church, North Road, Durham, at 2 pm.
Kathleen, 17, of Aykley Heads, will play violin music by Bach, Mozart, Brahms and Copland.
She is studying for AS levels at Durham School and plays in a number of local orchestras, including the Young Sinfonia, and has performed in many prestigious venues and cities, including Krakow, in Poland
As well as violin, Kathleen is also studying the piano and has won several piano competitions. She has performed at venues including Birmingham Conservatoire, Chet-hams School of Music and Alnwick Castle.
Laura, 16, of Acklam, Middlesbrough, will play pieces for the oboe by Vivaldi and Saint-Sans, and recorder pieces by Frescobaldi, Christopher Ball and Geoffrey Russell-Smith. Last year Laura reached the regional finals of the BBC Young Musician of the year.
Tickets cost £3, concessions £2, and are available at the door. Admission is free for members of Durham Young Musicians.
