MORE than 50 Hartlepool children and their parents turned up for a fun day at Hartlepool's Historic Quay.
The day was part of a consultation exercise to help youth workers understand what young people wanted in their town.
The Hartlepool Children's Fund Partnership, set up by the Government's Children and Young Person's Unit, encourages families and young people to get the best out of life by promoting learning and activities.
Youngsters took part in a drama workshop to help them come up with ideas for youth facilities in the town, and they were also asked to design a logo for the partnership during an art session, the results of which went on display in the Historic Quay's Gallery.
Kathy Bundred, the unit's assistant director, said: "Holding events like the fun day at the Historic Quay is vitally important to make sure we get feedback, and just as important is the fact that young people were able to have a great time in developing their thoughts and ideas in a creative, constructive environment."
The Children's Fund was set up less than six months ago in Hartlepool and has already begun a programme of community participation and activities.
