Darlington striker Barry Conlon will be out for at least the next three weeks after limping off at Leyton Orient on Tuesday.
The results of a scan undertaken yesterday afternoon will be received this morning and will determine the extent of the damage sustained when Conlon stretched his leg when going in for tackle.
He'll be missing for three weeks if he's injured the back of his knee, but Conlon will be out for at least four weeks if he's torn a cartilage.
The seven-goal hit-man was replaced at Brisbane Road in the early stages of the 0-0 draw by Mark Sheeran, who himself was taken off in favour of Neil Maddison, who'd stepped down from last Saturdays' line-up, as did Danny Mellanby.
Paul Campbell was one of the replacements as he started in the right-wing berth, with Neil Wainwright switching to the right.
Although Campbell would prefer a central-midfield role, he admits to being satisfied to be playing after a season in which he's spent more time off the pitch than on it.
"I was delighted to play, it wasn't in my favourite position but it was just good to be picked," said Campbell, who was starting just his seventh game of the season.
"Tommy has just said don't sulk, keep trying, keep your head up and that's what I've done.
"All season I've been in and out of the team or on the bench so it was just good to be playing."
"After Saturday we were all very, very disappointed, I wasn't paying but I was gutted for the lads.
"I suppose going to Leyton Orient and getting a point is a good result, even though they're at the bottom, because they're fighting for their lives."
Fans are reminded all are welcome to attend this evening's fans' forum in the Ambassador Suite (7.30pm).
Chairman George Reynolds is to answer supporters' questions while also in attendance will be PR director Luke Raine, Taylor, Mick Tait, the club's directors, including Reynolds' wife Susan.
* Luton are reported to have made a bid for one-time Darlington target Michael Proctor of Sunderland. Taylor's attempts to bring Proctor, who scored against Luton for York on Saturday, to Feethams this year were thwarted by the players' agent.
