GATESHEAD Millennium Bridge, over the Tyne, will be tilted by a member of the public for the first time this weekend.
Ann Porter, of Low Fell, Gateshead, won the honour, in a competition in Gateshead Borough Council's newsletter, Quays Update.
Gateshead mayor Councillor Joe Hattam, will give Mrs Porter and her family a VIP tour, before they get to tilt the bridge, at noon on Sunday.
The bridge uses a unique mechanism to open, turning on pivots to form a gateway arch - resembling the opening and closing of a giant eyelid
