A POLICE officer was injured last night during a high-speed chase across two counties.
About a dozen police cars and the force's aircraft were involved in the chase after a Mercedes van refused to stop for officers at about 7.45pm, on the A689 in Cleveland.
Two Cleveland police cars were damaged during the pursuit as officers followed the vehicle across the county and into Durham, where they were joined by colleagues from the neighbouring force.
After a 30-minute pursuit, the van was brought to a halt on the A19, just south of Peterlee near to the junction with the A181.
Two men were arrested at the scene.
A police officer from Cleveland suffered what a spokesman described as minor injuries during the chase
