STATUS Quo are to perform at a special concert in the North-East this summer.
The famous rock band will be performing in the grounds of Ormesby Hall, near Redcar, on August 24 as one of three concerts to be held this year at the Teesside venue, which has become a popular site for summertime outdoor events over the past few years.
The other two concerts, in July, will be Proms style events and there will be room for about 9,000 revellers at each of the three concerts.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's licensing committee approved the scheme yesterday, and also agreed to contribute £250 towards the cost for hosting the event because the hall, as part of the National Trust, has charitable status.
There were concerns raised by residents about taxi facilities at the conclusion of the concerts, which has been a problem at past events.
The council is to look at the option of creating a temporary taxi rank at The Fountain pub, at the bottom of Ormesby Bank, if the licensee agrees.
