STUDENTS and staff at a Teesside College are celebrating good Ofsted report results.
Inspectors said all eight curriculum areas were good at Prior Pursglove College, Guisborough.
They said: "The quality of teaching is mainly good or better in all subjects. Preparation and planning for teaching are thorough, and the curriculum is well managed."
Last year, there was an improvement in GCE A-level pass and retention rates. However, the proportion of students achieving high grades is consistently below the national average.
Key strengths included good teaching and learning, effective procedures for assessment and the monitoring of students' progress and good learning resources.
The report also highlighted areas of improvement including range of teaching methods in some subjects, monitoring and promotion of equal opportunities and pass and retention rates on vocational courses.
The college became a sixth-form in 1971, and was merged with another sixth-form college in 1997. In 1999/2000, 2,030 students, enrolled at the college, with 38 subjects offered at GCE AS and A-level and 12 subjects at GCSE.
It is involved in the development of the Education Action Zone, designed to improve low academic expectations in the local community.
