Worthington CIU Winter League
Old Shildon virtually sealed another Championship after they whitewashed the visiting Ferryhill with wins from Billy Goggins, Jossie Alworth, Steven Bennett, Charlie Blake and Michael Pratt, who finished in style with a 62 break. Wheatley Hill A held on to their second place after they only dropped one point to the visiting Brandon, who had Colin Goodrick as their only winner. The Hill's Points came from Dean Bryden, Dave Walker, Ronnie Peacock and Dennis Clish. Cockton Hill moved into third place, two points behind Wheatley Hill A after they only dropped one point to the visiting Newton Aycliffe, who slipped into serious relegation trouble as they now trail their rivals by five points, although they have Ferryhill below them. Bill Barrigan took the visitors only point, whilst the home winners were Kevin Mordica with a 38 break, Andrew Aisbitt with a 44 break, George Chapman and Lee Taylor. Spennymoor A made up some lost ground with a deciding point home win over Witton Gilbert. Paul Biddle and John Wilson put the Moors ahead but John Rooney senior and Malcolm Peart levelled the scores. In the decider The Moors Karl Welsh beat Lawrence Jones.
Willington eased their relegation worries by recording their best win of the season when they only dropped one point to the visiting Fishburn A, who had John Carter as their point scorer. The home points came from Gordon Parkin, Jeremy Martin, Arthur Goldsborough and Tom Parkin.
Joint leaders of the Second Division, Meadowfield and Langley Park, both went down in the decider in home matches. Meadowfield entertained Spennymoor B with Kevin Riley putting the visitors ahead. Ian Hodgson and Norman Smith moved Meadowfield ahead only to see Karl McCormack level the match. In the decider Alan Rowell took the Moors to victory by beating Stephen Hughes.
Stephen Coates put Langley Park ahead against the visiting Stanley Central but then Jim Dufton and Harry Grimes moved the visitors ahead. Ray Coates levelled the match but then the Central's Walter Cornell beat Paul Morgan in the decider.
Hunwick A had the chance of moving to the top of the table but then only managed one point on their visit to Crowtrees, who jumped up to fourth place, just one point behind second placed Hunwick A but with a match in hand. Paul Atkinson put in a 42 break to put Hunwick ahead but then the home side took over with wins from Sonny Hann, with a 37 break, Phil Whitfield, Peter Laverick and Sean Johnston.
Belmont look doomed to relegation after they only picked up one point from the visiting Sherburn Village. Eric Clough, making his first appearance of the season for Belmont, was their only winner, whilst Scott Mallaburn with a 57 break, John Bower, Alan Greener and Michael Crisp won for Sherburn.
Wingate are eight points ahead of Belmont and share the equal second to bottom place with Newhouse. Wingate were able to pick up two valuable points at home to Wheatley Hill B, who won in the decider. Jim Mason took the first point for Wingate but then Jock Frost and Steve Cave moved the Hill ahead. Geoff Howe levelled the match but Tony Ellison took the visitors to victory by beating Dave Carter.
The positions at the top of the Third Division stayed the same despite the fact that both the leaders, Bearpark and the second placed, West Auckland were beaten. Bearpark visited Hunwick B and went ahead through Alex Donaldson but then the home side took over with wins from Tom Ward, Trevor Lomax, John Bate and Trevor Cook. This result leaves Bearpark two points ahead of West Auckland, who have a game in hand, and four ahead of Hunwick B.
West Auckland surprisingly went down to Tow Law in the decider. Doug Watson and Bill McCluskey put the Lawyers into the lead but Andrew Dent and Andrew Sugden levelled the match. In the decider the home side went to victory when Charlie Donaghy beat David Geraty.
Leeholme B put up a very good show at Fishburn B before they went to defeat in the decider. Alan Wilson put the home side ahead on a re-spotted black but then David Weatherburn and Ian Catterson put the visitors ahead. Alan Buist levelled the match with Dave Wilson putting in breaks of 37 and 27 to beat Leeholme's Glen Douthwaite in the decider.
Sacriston were never ahead on their trip to Crook Belle Vue until they won the decider. Derek Potts put the home side ahead with Willy Nixon levelling. Arnold Fleming restored the home lead only to see Glen Barton equalise. In the decider Sacriston's Jeff Evans beat Gordon Sample.
Barry Shaw took the only points for Leeholme A in their home match against the neighbouring Coundon. The visitors' points came from Frank Nicholson, John Paul Wringe, Micky McKerry and Dennis Payne.

Crook League
The Player of the Year Trophy will be shared between three players after they made fourteen wins from the sixteen matches played. Neil Campbell of Crook Travellers Rest B will share the trophy with Gerald Parkin and Gavin Witton of Crook Olde Horse Shoe A. The Highest break award goes to Ian Bibby of Crook Mill House with a 79 run.
The Second Division's Player of the Year is Lee Airey of Crook White Swan after he recorded twelve victories from fourteen matches. The Highest break award for the Second Division went to Martin Mann of Crook Golden Fleece with a run of 55.
