A SECTION of a main road is to be closed from Monday to allow a £200,000 improvement scheme to be completed.
A three-quarter mile stretch of the A174, between the junction for Cowbar and Staithes in Cleveland, will be shut for two weeks.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has already carried out four weeks of preparation work to replace drainage gulleys and add concrete edging, using a temporary lights system to manage traffic. The closure is essential to complete the surfacing work because the carriageway is too narrow.
A signed diversion will be in place, directing drivers via the B1366, the A171 Moors Road and the B1266.
Weather permitting, the council hopes to finish ahead of the scheduled reopening on Monday, March 18. For bus service enquiries, call 0870 608 2608.
