Cars targeted by thieves
A digital compact disc player, worth £100, was stolen from a Toyota Camry in Ash Terrace, West Cornforth, between 9.45pm on Tuesday and 8.20am on Wednesday.
A Seat Cordoba was broken into in the same street at the same time, but nothing was stolen. A lock and door handle on a Rover was also damaged.
POLYTUNNELS PLAN: An application for four polytunnels at Travellers Green Nursery, Newton Aycliffe, has been submitted to Sedgefield Borough Council. Great Aycliffe Town Council has raised no objections to the application.
ARSON ATTACK: The seat of a Honda car was damaged by fire after someone set it alight in Lightfoot Terrace, Ferryhill, on Wednesday, at 8.45pm.
COFFEE MORNING: Winston Village Hall will host a coffee morning organised by Teesdale Carers Centre on March 16, from 10am to noon.
ART SHOW: Gainford's annual art exhibition will be held in the village hall on April 26 and 27. Anyone wishing to exhibit paintings can get entry forms and details from Renee and Brian Blackburn, on (0325) 730509.
JUMBLE SALE: A jumble sale will be held in Heighington Village Hall tomorrow.
HOUSE BURGLED: A television, mobile telephone and 20 compact discs were stolen from a house in Askrigg Close, Newton Aycliffe, on Wednesday, at about 2.45pm.
SOCIAL NIGHT: An "eat and meet" event is being held in Sadberge Village Hall next Tuesday, at 12.15pm.
CAR DAMAGED: An object thrown from a footbridge over the A167 at Ferryhill damaged the roof of a car travelling on the road on Wednesday, at 8.30pm.
ROAD WORKS: Road works by Transco will start in Valley Street North, Darlington, on Monday and last for six weeks. Traffic lights will be in operation.
VIOLENCE TALKS: The Darlington Domestic Violence Forum is holding a conference on domestic violence in the 21st century next Wednesday, from 9.30am to 4pm, at Darlington Arts Centre, in Vane Terrace.
DANCE DATE: The Arc Dance Company will perform Brothers, at Darlington Civic Theatre, on Tuesday, March 12. Tickets, costing £11.50 and £14.50, are available from the box office on (01325) 486555.
