RESIDENTS of 17th Century almshouses at Kirkleatham, Redcar, are learning the ancient techniques of yoga and tai chi.
Weekly sessions have been funded by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and are proving to be a big hit among the pensioners at the Sir William Turner's Hospital.
The Hospital's Residents Association organised the sessions, which have been opened up to the community.
Chairman of the Trustees Peter Sotheran said the idea was that the gentle exercise helped the residents keep fit and active to maintain an independent lifestyle.
The Almshouses, currently undergoing a £1m renovation scheme, provide sheltered, social housing to elderly and vulnerable people.
