Darlington failed to win for the seventh consecutive game as they fell to a 4-2 defeat at Exeter City.
In the first half Quakers were the better team but failed to take their chances and the 1-1 half-time scoreline was an unfair reflection of the opening 45 minutes.
Darlington took the lead in the first half through Neil Maddison but the hosts equalised thanks to Andy Roscoe's strike three minutes before half-time.
Within the first 15 minutes of the second half Darlington paid the ultimate penalty for giving away possession when Christian Roberts handed Exeter the lead in the 50th minute and Roscoe claimed his second goal of the afternoon six minutes later to put the home side 3-1 up.
Quakers hit back when Neil Wainwright finished off an impressive move involving Mark Convery and Mark Ford but Quakers never looked liked snatching a point.
The game was put beyond Tommy Taylor's side when Christian Roberts scored in the 77th minute.
