PARALYMPIAN Tanni Grey-Thompson will return to competition in her North-East home town this month following the birth of her first child.
Last month, she gave birth to daughter Carys Olivia in Cardiff, but she has now returned home to Redcar, east Cleveland, with her husband, Ian.
Her participation in next month's Yuill Homes Redcar half marathon will mark her return to competition since becoming a mother.
It is a title she has won several times in the past and she is looking forward to the race.
"This will be my first competition for a while and I'm really looking forward to it. Both Ian and I have competed several times in the past and it is always an enjoyable experience, particularly in front of a local crowd.
The race, which takes place on Sunday, March 17, has already attracted thousands of entrants. Anyone wanting to take part is asked to call (01642) 444373
