Bishop Auckland have asked neighbours Spennymoor about sharing grounds next season.
Bishops are intent on leaving their Kingsway home at the end of the season, but only on condition that they have somewhere else to play.
And last week they arranged for the uniBond League to inspect the Northern League grounds at Crook, West Auckland and Shildon with a view to sharing one of those grounds until their new home is eventually built.
But UniBond League officials have told Bishops that those grounds require costly extra work, which would have to be finished by the end of April.
Club spokesman Terry Jackson said: "We're looking at all the options available to us. It looks as if we'll have to pay the rent for one ground or upgrade the other.
"The deadlines are very tight and we would have to improve the grounds within a couple of months, so we're hopeful that they will give us some leeway.
"We've also spoken to Spennymoor about a possible groundshare there."
It remains to be seen whether Bishops' fans would be keen on sharing the ground of one of their fiercest rivals.
Meanwhile, Bishops have a tough away game at Altrincham today, and manager Alan Shoulder is hoping Paul Proudlock will be able to make his debut.
Defender Steve Hutt is fit after injury, but defender Mark Salmon is injured.
In the First Division, Spennymoor will be presented with two Team of the Month awards before their home game with Matlock.
Moors are unbeaten in their last nine matches, and have stormed up the table to the fringe of the play off zone. Manager Tony Lee could include new centre half Michael Robson from Marske.
Whitby go to Colwyn Bay missing several players.
