Young singers take the stage
Park View Community School is staging the musical Babes in Arms in the school's Church Chare Theatre, in Chester-le-Street town centre, from Monday to Friday, March 11 to 15. ART CLASS: Durham University's Oriental Museum is holding a workshop on Japanese ink painting, led by artist Yukki Yaura, today starting at 2pm.

Diabetes meeting: Durham Diabetic Club will holds its annual meeting in the diabetes centre in the city's University Hospital of North Durham, on Tuesday, March 12 at 7.30pm. After business is concluded members will be given a talk by a consultant from the hospital. Admission is free.
Mothering service: Perkinsville Methodist Church is holding a Mothering Sunday service on Sunday, March 10, at 10am. The service will be led by Elaine Burns, of Chester-le-Street.

POTTERY FAIR: A pottery fair is returning to Durham Market Place, from Monday to Friday. Ceramics and crystal will be on sale.
Coffee morning: St Cuthbert's Church at Shadforth is holding a coffee morning at which bacon sandwiches will be served tomorrow at 10.30am in the Sherburn Hill Community Centre. Admission is free.

Mast plan: Hutchinson 3G UK has notified Durham City Council of its plans to put up a mobile phone mast at the Abbeywoods Business Park, Pity Me.
Centre service: The band of Christ Church, Felling, will be playing hymns during a religious service in the MetroCentre, Gateshead, tomorrow. The service, to be held at 3pm in Exhibition Square, will be led by the Reverend Trevor Davidson.
New fence: Durham County Council is seeking planning permission to put up a 1.8-metre high fence at the front of Newton Hall County Infant School, in Langley Road, Newton Hall, Durham
