LIFE in a remote former mining village will be portrayed in a millennium exhibition in Bishop Auckland.

People in Nenthead, in the North Pennines, put together a selection of photographs for their Millennium Community Exhibition.

Now the pictures, which portray the diverse range of work and social activities in the village, will go on display in the Discovery Centre, in the Market Place at Bishop Auckland.

Also featuring in the exhibition will be artefacts relating to upper Weardale's mining heritage, donated by Killhope Lead Mining Centre.

The event has been organised by the North Pennines Heritage Trust and its curate is Simon Danby.

It has been funded by Awards for All, the Countryside Agency, the Sponsors Club and the North Pennines Heritage Trust.

The exhibition opens on Thursday, and will run at the centre until Saturday, March 23. Opening times are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from 11am to 4pm, and admission is free.
