STAFF and pupils at a Middlesbrough school, including those above, celebrated after picking up a national sports award. Newport Primary School, St Paul's Road, is one of 57 schools in the country to receive an Activemark award from Sport England for its promotion of physical activity. Headteacher Chris Quinn said the award showed the commitment both staff and pupils have to sport. "We had to put in a very rigorous application and we are very proud indeed to have got it. We offer a wide variety of sports activities as part of the curriculum and we have extra-curricular volleyball, basketball and netball clubs as well as a lunchtime sports club," he said.
