YOUNG performers were shown the secrets of a hit show at workshops yesterday.
Two founder members of Stomp, who use household items to make music, put the young people through their paces during two sessions at Sunderland University.
Since beginning in Brighton in 1991, the show has been watched by more than a million people worldwide.
Students from Sunderland City Colleges and North Tyneside Steel Band saw how brooms, dustbins and sink plungers could be used to create melodies at the event, which coincided with the production's run at the Sunderland Empire Theatre.
Ed Tutty, press officer at the Empire, said: "It is a fabulous show to watch, and the chance to see it up close and find out about the thinking behind it was one that performers across the region did not want to miss."
