CIVIC chiefs are urging people to nominate unsung community heroes for a series of awards to mark the Queen's golden jubilee.
Harrogate Borough Council will be handing out a total of 60 accolades in July, including ten for youngsters who have made significant contributions to their local areas.
Fifty golden jubilee community awards are also available to people living in the Harrogate district, or outside, who make a contribution through membership of a local group or club.
Kevin Douglas, director of leisure and amenity services, said: "We have many unsung heroes in this district, both young and old. These awards will make sure that their work is recognised and duly rewarded.
"We have had a very good response, but I am keen to hear from anyone else who might wish to nominate someone or, indeed, put their own names forward."
Application forms are available from Mr Douglas at Harrogate Council, Brandreth House, Harrogate, HG1 2AA.
