To mark the return of the popular pottery fair to Durham Market Place, its traders have presented gifts to the city's Mayor, Councillor George Cowper.
On previous visits, the traders have made similar presentations, which, like yesterday's, have benefited the mayor's chosen Helping Hands charity, the Alzheimer's Society and the Durham Centre for People with Learning Disabilities.
Arthur Bloor, president of the pottery fairs branch of the National Association of Market Traders, said: "We are delighted to return to Durham's Market Place - it is one of our favourite venues.
He added: "We are delighted to make this presentation to help and support the mayor's charities."
The fair, supported by Durham City Forum, will be in the market place until Friday, offering a selection of ceramics and crystal.
Chris Rawlinson, city centre manager, said: "The pottery fair is a traditional sight in the market place, and people travel for miles to visit and treat themselves.
