TOUR operators and travel group organisers are being treated to a discovery holiday at the weekend to boost tourism in Weardale and Teesdale.
They will spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday being shown around visitor attractions in the North Pennines.
Organised by Durham County Council, with support from the Teesdale Marketing Consortium, Northumbria Tourist Board, Wear Valley Council and the Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield, the venture aims to generate long-term tourism business.
Discovery is the theme of the tour, which takes in destinations as diverse as Raby Castle, near Staindrop, Killhope Lead Mining Museum in Upper Weardale, Bowes Museum and Barnard Castle, the Durham Dales Centre in Stanhope, the High Force waterfall and the Bishop of Durham's Auckland Castle home.
The event, co-ordinated by Steve Reed Tourism, from Ponteland, ends with a Regional Tourism Workshop at Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, on Sunday, from 2pm to 3pm, at which tourism businesses can meet buyers.
Places on the workshop can be booked by contacting Steve Reed on (01661) 872 821, 0786 7788 754.
