POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an alleged road-rage incident in Newton Aycliffe on Monday.
A purple Peugeot 405 estate and a green Citroen Xsara were involved in three separate incidents in the space of five minutes at about 1.20pm.
First there was a minor collision in Greenwell Road, behind the leisure centre. The number plate of the Peugeot was damaged and an altercation took place between the two drivers.
A short time later there was a second incident, in Macmillan Road, near the entrance to the Territorial Army Centre, which resulted in damage to the front of the Citroen.
Within a couple of minutes, there was a third incident in Greenwell Road, when the Peugeot was in collision with the driver of the Citroen, who had left his car, leading to another altercation.
The driver of the Peugeot, from Yorkshire, and the Citroen driver, from Newton Aycliffe, have both been traced and have given their versions of events.
PC Gary Emerson, of Newton Aycliffe police, said: "We are sure there must have been a number of people who saw what happened and I would ask them to contact the police."
