the children's unit at a Teesside hospital's casualty department has received a cash boost, thanks to a company's excellent safety record.
Workers at the Cassel Business, Ineos Acrylics at Billingham were given £500 to donate to a local charity by managers - and they chose the children's accident and emergency department at the University Hospital of North Tees.
Ian Peacock, safety officer, said: "The lads wanted to make a donation to somewhere local where they knew it would make a difference. Different suggestions were made, but it was unanimously agreed that the money should go to the children's department in accident and emergency.
"If we have been able to make just one child's visit happier and easier it is more than worth it."
Phil Stamp, accident and emergency consultant at the hospital, said: "We are absolutely delighted at this donation and would like to say a big thank-you to the workers at Cassel Business. We intend to use the money to buy a DVD player, DVDs and a bubble light."
