THE region is being warned that it has a contribution to make to Government plans for ten per cent of electricity to come from renewable energy sources by 2010.
A new report, commissioned by the Government, provides estimates of the renewable resources in each region.
These assessments will eventually lead to the agreement of regional targets, which will play a key role in providing developers and other stakeholders find potential new sites.
The North-East is identified as having the potential of providing between 2.7 per cent and 6.3 per cent, while the Yorkshire and Humber region is said to be able to provide between 3.8 per cent and 11 per cent.
