THE region's front-line RAF fighter base had a VIP visitor this week, with the arrival of the Minister of Defence from the Czech Republic.
During a trip to the UK, Jaroslav Tvrdik visited RAF Leeming near Bedale, North Yorkshire.
He met a Czech pilot and army officer who are taking part in a four-week course at RAF Leeming. He also received a briefing on the work of the base and was given a close-up glimpse of the cockpit of one of XI (Fighter) Squadron's Tornado F3s.
