A children's theatre group has had a massive response from the public after it revealed a desperate need for cash.
Consett Theatre Workshop Junior Group, which has provided fun for youngsters for generations, made a public appeal for help after being hit by spiralling costs for rent and equipment, which threatened its existence.
But its future is looking altogether rosier after community groups, individual members of the public and young group members answered the call.
One society planning to help is the Team Viagra Cycling Group, which operates from the Grey Horse pub in Consett.
The club is planning a sponsored cycle along the coast from near Sunderland to Alnwick Castle.
Meanwhile, a local insurance consultant has offered the workshop an interest-free £500 loan and the Durham County Foundation Neighbourhood Renewal Community Chest has donated £1,400.
Eager youngsters at the group have also come up with a range of sponsored activities to raise cash.
"It's been a fantastic response," said leading group member Margaret Darroch.
"It is so heartening to know that people are prepared to help so much.
"Thanks to everyone who has helped so far."
She said that tickets for this year's show in June, The Melody Lingers On, have already begun to sell.
