Bishop Auckland are now occupying the relegation play off spot after they were beaten 2-0 at Whitby on Tuesday night.
Whitby won with goals from recent signing Ross Merchant after 30 minutes and Richard Dunning from a free kick in the second half, and to make matters worse for Bishops, they had central defender Mark Salmon sent off near the end.
The win enabled Whitby to overtake Bishops and Hucknall to move into fifth from bottom spot, and leave Bishops third bottom.
Hucknall have improved recently, and have won three out of their last four matches, while Bishops haven't won a league game since the autumn.
The team which finishes third bottom has to play off with the third, fourth and fifth clubs for a place in the Premier Division
Spennymoor United are still unbeaten under new manager Tony Lee after they drew 0-0 at Farsley Celtic on Tuesday.
Moors had the better chances in the game, with two of them falling to Steve Pickering in the first half, when he was clean through twice with just the keeper to beat.
Moors are now five points off the play off places, but they have dropped two places to ninth.
Meanwhile, Moors boss Tony Lee admitted that he was doubly worried when his son Anthony was carried off in the win over Matlock last Saturday.
At first, it was thought that Lee junior had a broken leg, but x-rays revealed that it was severe bruising instead.
"I was worried not just as a manager, but also as a parent. It wasn't a very nice feeling."
