Brompton

THE Under-13s suffered their first cup defeat of the season going down 2-0 to a determined Darlington Spraire Lads team. John Henry had Brompton's only shot on goal and this summed up the overall performance. Darlington outwitted Brompton in the second half and scored two fine goals to progress into the semi-final. William Bunn was voted Brompton's man of the match.

Chilton YC

THE Under-18s, who play in the Auckland & District EBAC Youth League are hoping to repeat last year's successful trip to Norway to play in an international youth tournament.

"Nothing is finalised yet, but the lads are keen to go abroad again, and if it's not Norway, it could be somewhere else," said manager Joe Donaghy.

Donaghy is proud of the fact that three of his team figured in the Durham County squad which beat Lancashire 2-1 after extra time at Billingham Synthonia last Saturday to win a place in the final of the FA County Youth Cup. Goalkeeper Michael Leighton, defender Stephen Tobin and midfielder Adam Reid all played throughout the full two hours of the game.

Chilton, beaten finalists two seasons ago, are looking forward to the Lady Eden Youth Cup semi final away to Willington on March 23. League cup holders Chilton are also set for the semi finals of that competition. They

are currently second in the qualifying competition.

Darlington Albion

Albion Under-12s entertained Brompton at home in a rearranged league fixture, losing 3-2. Goals were scored by star man. Michael Curnow and Chris Binks. In a better overall performance Albion travelled to Bedale to play the cup quarter final and won 4-3 with goals from Michael Curnow (2), Elvin Webley and Liam Allam and the star man was Elvin Webley.

The Under-13s were again unlucky to draw Thirsk in the quarter final of the cup and were shown a lesson by a strong side, losing 10-0. Having a depleted side, Albion showed character to the end with good performances coming from Lee McKie, Michael Martin and stand-in keeper Callan Suttie. New players are welcome.
