THE son of a sculptor whose famous creation could be demolished is to argue the case for keeping the artwork, at a public meetingy.
Victor Pasmore designed the Apollo Pavilion, in Peterlee, as part of a housing development in the 1970s. Hailed at the time as an innovation, the sculpture has since fallen into disrepair and been vandalised.
Residents have asked Easington District Council to demolish it and clean up the surrounding lake. The council said it could not afford the work, but last month it agreed to give £5,000 towards setting up a steering group and holding a public meeting to discuss the pavilion's future.
At 6pm on Monday, in the Oakerside Community Centre, Mr Pasmore's son, John, who has previously argued that the pavilion should be retained, will give an address
