THE school has recently been selected to receive new government funding to promote innovation in the use of ICT (information communication technology).
Innovation funding is a new grant under the Government's standards grant funding, to enable schools to explore the leading edge of educational use of ICT.
With the other primary schools feeding Belmont School, in Durham, Sherburn Hill was fortunate enough to have a bid for new funding accepted. Durham County Council contributed £83,000 towards the total of £176,000 of the grant.
Our school's share enabled the provision of exciting interactive whiteboards and multimedia projectors.
Headteacher David Thurlwell said: "I believe that interactive whiteboards will revolutionise the way we teach.
They combine the benefits of a writing surface, computer display, touch screen and projection screen on one large board area."
Teachers will be using them with whole class groups.
Pupils will also have the opportunity to work collaboratuvely in areas such as using ICT to support literacy and numeracy.
