A NORTHALLERTON college student has enjoyed a busy and successful month representing Yorkshire in the swimming pool and on the cross-country course.
Hannah Creelman (pictured above) won a gold medal in the 100m breaststroke, a silver in the 100m freestyle and two bronze medals in her remaining events at the winter Yorkshire championships at Leeds.
The 16-year-old, who said she was delighted to take gold in the breaststroke in a new personal best time, was narrowly beaten in the 100m freestyle by Claire Wideatt, who is now a regular sprinter in the England team.
Hannah was also delighted to make her debut for Yorkshire in a regional cross-country event at Beverley, finishing tenth in a very strong field.
The youngster, who trains six nights a week and has two early morning sessions with the Thirsk White Horse swimming club, said she is now preparing for the Scottish nationals in July and hopes to retain her national junior sprint title.
She added that it was going to be a difficult year ahead as she also prepares to take her GCSE exams
