SIX Darlington schools took part in the town's first primary school basketball tournament at the Dolphin centre on Wednesday.
The event was organised following six weeks of free coaching sessions provided by Darlington Borough Council.
Taking part were pupils from Whinfield juniors, Heathfield primary, Red Hall primary, Mowden juniors, Reid Street primary and Abbey juniors.
The aim of the event was to raise the profile of the sport in the town and encourage children to join the Darlington junior basketball club.
The tournament was also organised as a way of providing healthy, positive activity for young children.
The junior basketball club meets at the Dolphin centre on Wednesdays, from 4-5pm.
Entry to the club, for seven to 11-year-olds, costs £1.50 per session.
