A North Yorkshire schoolboy is gearing up for a return to the racetrack after scooping his first win behind the wheel.
Edwin Jowsey is not old enough to drive on public roads just yet - but still managed to beat more experienced drivers to the chequered flag in an Historic Formula 3 event at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire, on his 16th birthday last year.
And, having enjoyed his first taste of victory - if not the traditional champagne - the talented teenager is aiming for more over the coming months, as long as school work allows him weekends away.
Mallory Park sees the first meeting of the new year on Sunday - when Edwin and his father will make the journey from their family home in Whitby to be there.
"I had no idea he'd be so fast when I let him get behind the wheel on our drive at home, but he took to it so quickly it seemed natural to let him have a go at racing,'' said proud father Cliff Jowsey.
"The win at Cadwell Park was incredible as it is the most difficult circuit to drive in Europe."
His precocious skill has earned Edwin an International Licence, which allows him to compete abroad this year, including at famous circuits such as Monza in Italy, Monte Carlo and at Spa in Belgium.
Mr Jowsey is also hoping to develop a car his son can drive in F2 competition this year.
