A NEWTON Aycliffe school is gearing itself up for a family event next week.
As part of new developments at Greenfield Community and Arts Centre, the school is throwing open its doors to pupils of local primary schools, their families and the local community.
The plan is to stage a family learning event at the centre next Saturday, from 11am to 2pm, when there will be a number of workshops to take part in or watch.
The workshops will vary from guitar and keyboard playing to disc jockey skills, poetry reading and children's entertainment.
Lunch and refreshments are free, along with the chance to see some top entertainment from local talent.
There will be singing by Elite and Helen Swanwick, dancing from the Youth Dance Club and Clare Walton's Stepping Out Dance School, and poetry readings by the Greenfield Writers.
For further information contact Jo-Anne Mason at the centre, on (01325) 307147.
