THEATRE producers in the region are casting for a corgi with style and class to play a regal role later this month.
Roald Dahl's best-selling children's book The BFG - or Big Friendly Giant - comes to Theatre Royal, in Newcastle, from Tuesday, March 19 to Saturday, March 23.
But the show's producers urgently need a suitable dog to play the cameo role of the Queen's corgi in an important scene, where the BFG has breakfast at Buckingham Palace.
The theatre is holding a doggy audition to find the ideal canine on Tuesday, March 19, at 2.30pm.
The actress playing the part of the Queen will try out the dogs - but theatre spokeswoman Judith Cheston said that a royal pedigree is not essential.
Anyone who is interested can call Judith on (01608) 661198.
