A campaign has been launched to ensure that parents buckle up their children safely their cars.
The scheme is a joint initiative by car firm Jennings Ford and Stockton Borough Council and aims to highlight the importance of ensuring that every child travelling in a vehicle is properly restrained and protected.
Road safety officers from the council will be on hand at the Yarm Road branch of the car firm to give advice and demonstrations to parents and grandparents from 11am on Sunday, March 16.
Nas Khan, sales director for Jennings Ford, commented: "Fitting the correct car seat isn't an option - it's the law. It is imperative that the right car seat is fitted and that it offers maximum protection for the child.
"We are delighted to join forces with Stockton Borough Council's road safety department and look forward to a successful campaign."
Peter Fleming, road safety officer with the council, said the law states that it is the driver's responcibility to ensure that every child is properly restrained in a car.
