THE prospect of an all-North-East FA Cup semi-final loomed large after last night's draw.
Middlesbrough will meet Newcastle on Sunday, April 14 - provided the Magpies beat Arsenal in the quarter-final replay.
The other tie is an all-London affair as Chelsea meet Fulham.
Boro yesterday thumped Everton 3-0 at the Riverside and Newcastle drew 1-1 with Arsenal at St James' Park 24 hours earlier.
Newcastle now need a repeat of their Premiership win at Arsenal when the two sides stage their sixth-round replay at Highbury on Saturday, March 24.
A repeat of that 3-1 victory would see Bobby Robson's men play Boro.
If it is a North-East semi-final, the game is likely to be played at either the Stadium of Light or Elland Road.
Fulham will play west London neighbours Chelsea after earning their first appearance in an FA Cup semi-final for 27 years.
The capital clubs will square up to each other in a repeat of the derby game which Chelsea won 3-2 last week.
Fulham yesterday squeezed past First Division West Brom 1-0 to reach the last four, while Chelsea hammered Tottenham 4-0 at White Hart Lane.
Fulham's former Newcastle defender Alain Goma added he is already looking forward to another crack at Claudio Ranieri's men.
He said: ''We knew at this stage it would not be an easy game.
''We played them a few days ago but this will be a very different game.
"We now have the chance to go to the final of the FA Cup.''
