MILITARY chefs from across the region cooked up a winning recipe in a competition designed to test their military and culinary skills.
Teams from the Territorial Army's Tyne Tees Regiment and 251 Field Ambulance, which recruit from across the North-East and North Yorkshire, took part in Exercise Combat Caterer at Whitburn Training Camp, South Tyneside, on Sunday.
They faced a Kosovo-style test - being able to create a tasty nutritious meals suitable for feeding people in separate locations. The teams had to take part in a march. Then they were given a recipe to cook.
An Army spokeswoman said: "The judges, top catering staff from the Royal Logistics Corps, said the standard was excellent."
Seven teams from the North of England and Scotland took part.The 51st Highland Regiment came first, second was the 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment and third the Tyne Tees Regiment
