A GREEN charity is helping villagers create a little haven for wildlife near their community centre.
Tantobie Community Centre, near Stanley, called on the expertise of the Acorn Trust, in Delves Lane, to help plant a hedge near the building.
At the weekend, volunteers from the trust joined residents in planting native species which will provide a haven for birds and other wildlife. The trust also helped the community get a grant from Whitbread Action Earth for the project.
Acorn Trust volunteers will visit Caribees Wood, at Delves Lane, on Wednesday to carry out improvements again, they will be funded by Whitbread Action Earth.
