THE Easter Bunny was in town yesterday to launch a chocolate campaign.
Darlington Borough Council social services wants to collect Easter eggs during the next few weeks to distribute to people in need in the area.
Last year, more than 800 eggs were donated to the Eggstravaganza appeal and the organisers hope to get even more this year.
To become involved in the campaign, people are asked to buy one extra egg this Easter to be given to someone living on their own or in need.
Speaking at the launch Councillor Bill Dixon said: "Easter is a special time when families gather together, exchanging gifts of eggs and having fun.
"The small gift of an egg to someone living on their own, or a child, will make a world of difference."
The appeal continues until Monday, March 24, and chocolate eggs can be handed in at Alpha Radio, in Woodland Road, Darlington, or Asda, in Whinbush Way, Darlington.
