YOUNGSTERS have been piecing together major events from the past 50 years to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
The pupils at Leeming and Londonderry Primary School have created a mosaic depicting memorable events and inventions from the past six decades, with help from Rural Arts North Yorkshire.
The children researched and drew the images for the mosaic, which is just over a metre square, and then were shown how to cut and fix the tiles by Margaret Murphy, from Rural Arts.
Images include the Mini car, four-minute mile runner Roger Bannister, flower power, the first heart transplant, CDs and the Angel of the North.
Headteacher Barbara Marshall said that parents and residents were invited into the school to help the children, with the project being completed in two afternoons. "The support and interest from the parents and community has been fantastic," she said.
"At one session we had more than 50 people working together, which is quite an accomplishment for such a small school."
The completed mosaic was then placed in concrete and left to set before being mounted on an outside wall at the school.
